Contraception clinics, Sexual Health clinics and GP surgeries provide a confidential service. This means they will keep your information private and not tell your parents/carers/guardians.

“Doctors and health workers have a strict rule that says they have to keep all patient records and information completely private, even if you are under 16.”

Confidentiality may only be broken in exceptional circumstances, like when a doctor or health worker thinks you or others might be in serious danger, they might feel there is a need to pass information on. But even if they do, they must talk to you first before they tell anyone else; the only exception is if there is an extreme situation where they didn’t feel able to speak to the person first before sharing information.
